Fr Gerard Healy SJ

The most recent position held by Father Gerard (Gerry)Healy SJ has been as a teacher at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education from 1996 until 2016.

Father Healy’s qualifications include the following:
B.Sc. (ANU); Dip.Ed./ M.ED. (University of Melbourne); B. Theol. (Melbourne College of Divinity) and Ph.D. (University of Melbourne).

His senior educational appointments include:
- Dean/Acting Rector at Newman College 1975-1976 and 1984-1988.
- Deputy Principal Xavier College (1977-1980).
- Principal, Catholic Regional College Sydenham 1980-1983
- Rector, St Leo’s College, University of Queensland 1989-1990
- Prefect of Studies, St Aloysius, Sydney 1991-1995
- Assistant to the Principal Xavier College 1996-2004
- Delegate (Director) of Education for the Australian Province (204-2010)
- Panel member and Panel Chair of the VCAA examination panels in Physics and Environmental Science
- Member and Chair of accreditation panels for Schools in Australia and East Asia for CIS (Council of International Schools).

Father Healy is an alumnus of St Patrick’s College East Melbourne. He brings a significant experience in Catholic education to the College where he has also been a member of the teaching staff for several different periods of appointment, beginning with his first teaching position at the College in 1971. His career at Xavier covers the periods 1971-1972; 1973-1976 (part time); 1977-1980; and 1996–2009.
