Like all Australians I was shocked to hear of the destruction of Malaysian flight MH17. That shock turned to a sense of personal loss when I was informed that Sr Philomene Tiernan RSCJ was one of the passengers.

As people throughout the world reel from the senseless and heartbreaking loss of innocent lives of those on board MH17 the words of Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris, parents of Mo, Evie and Otis, who were killed along with grandfather Nick Norris, provide a beacon of hope in this tragedy.

  • On Monday 23 June, Thomas Daly and Nicholas Tsekouras left Melbourne with students from St Ignatius College, Geelong and Loyola College, Watsonia for Timor Leste, via Darwin.

  • On July 13, Xavier College Senior Campus welcomed the students from St Mary’s College, Broome to Melbourne as part of the Kimberley Cultural Exchange.

  • Parents are advised that an email has been sent (Tuesday 22 July) to all parents advising changes to the type of information being made available to parents

  • Welcome to a very big fortnight on the Senior Campus. On an academic level, students, parents and staff are taking part in a very ‘Ignatian’ process of reflection and discernment. 

  • Subject Selection—Year 10 students wishing to do a Unit 3 & 4 subject in 2015 (Acceleration).

  • After a strong win against St Kevin’s (2013 APS Premiers) the previous Saturday, the Xavier senior squad came into Round 5 with quiet confidence

  • This Thursday (31 July) the College celebrates the feast day of St Ignatius of Loyola.  As you would be aware from recent correspondence, our campus will be celebrating Mass at St Ignatius’

  • Please note that the venue for the Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola has been changed to St. Ignatius, Richmond.

  • I hope that your boys have settled into the term and that you have had the opportunity as a family to sit down and discuss some learning goals for this semester.
