Fr Chris Middleton SJ

Commencing at Xavier as Rector has reminded me that my introduction to Jesuit education was through spending a term at Burke Hall in 1977 as a young Jesuit novice. The late Fr Julian Slatterie SJ was the Headmaster. I observed the art of teaching in the classes of Mr ‘Pop’ Fountain, Miss Isa Connors and Mr Paul Henderson.

Dr Chris Hayes

Welcome back to the start of Term Three.  I trust you have had an enjoyable and renewing time with your family.   I feel well rested and energised after my sabbatical during Term two and I thank John Hickey who did a sterling job as Acting Principal in my absence.

  • I trust the semester break has been a refreshing time for you and your families. It is wonderful to be back to my usual role at the Senior Campus

  • Only three rounds of Winter Sport remain and I ask for everyone’s commitment to get back into the routine of raining and representing Xavier College in a positive fashion on Saturday’s.

  • The author of The Angle of Repose Wallace Stegner, perhaps little known in Australia, is regarded as one of the most influential authors of Modern American Literature.

  • Welcome to Term 3.  I hope you have all had a restful and enjoyable break and are looking forward to a rewarding and engaging semester.

  • I trust that you have had a wonderful break with family and friends over the past three weeks.

  • Semester One Reports were made available during the holidays. This would have been an excellent opportunity to reflect on the comments made by the teachers and to set goals for Semester Two.
