Director of Burke Hall

Welcome to Term 3. I hope you have enjoyed the past three weeks and have had the chance to spend time together as a family and try some new experiences.  The recent cold snap has certainly reinforced our sense that we are truly in winter.  On Monday, to commence the term, all Xavier College staff participated in a day to enhance their formation within our Ignatian tradition.  Formation activities entailed theology retreats, journey retreats, or service retreats.  One such retreat took us past the ice rink that has been setup near Federation Square.  With the flurries of rain dancing around the skaters, it certainly made Melbourne look like a little piece of Switzerland and left us with a newfound respect for the hardiness of the participants.  It is an amazing feature of the human psyche that the love of an activity can surmount any trials and hardships that need to be endured.  As we enter the second half of the year, I hope this love fills the hearts of your children as they take on the delights of their learning.

This term we have a number of new staff members:  Genevieve Gething (Foundation) and Mark Kelly (Year 4) join us for the remainder of the year.  Both bring a great deal of experience to our classrooms and a love of helping children learn.

Peace and best wishes for the coming fortnight.
