Dear Members of the Xavier College Community
I write to inform you that our Principal, Dr Chris Hayes, will complete his term of office at Xavier College at the end of this year after nine years of outstanding leadership of the College. He has been appointed the Headmaster of St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill in Sydney from the commencement of the 2018 academic year. On behalf of the Xavier College community we wish him well in his new appointment.
Dr Hayes has been responsible for innovative developments in all areas of the College programs. Throughout his leadership, he has supported a learning environment in which our students have had the opportunity to find their own strengths, to achieve their best and to further their enjoyment of learning, whilst recognising the importance of service to others in the community.
The Council has appointed the global executive search firm, Egon Zehnder, to commence the process to find an exceptional Principal who will take the College to an exciting new future. The Board will engage in a rigorous selection process to secure a talented leader who will not only build upon Dr Hayes’ legacy, but will be someone who will guide the College through the next stage of its development. The Council will be focused on ensuring that academic excellence and a friendly, nurturing learning environment will remain at the heart of the Xavier College philosophy. We will be looking to appoint a Principal with strong academic, management and personal leadership skills who also possesses a commitment to the values and practice of the Catholic Faith, is supportive of Jesuit spirituality and their philosophy of education.
Dr Hayes will continue in the role of Principal of Xavier College until the end of the 2017 academic year, and I ask for your understanding during this transitional period.
Please take this opportunity to join with us in thanking Dr Hayes for his invaluable contribution to the Xavier College community during his tenure.
FRANK PECK OAM
Chair of Xavier College Council
