The
Xavier College Resource Centres, on each
of the three campuses, are an integral part
of the teaching and learning community because
they:
- Provide
a wide range of print and non-print
resources relevant to the curriculum
and recreational needs of the users.
- Promote
a reading culture which supports
and enriches reading for pleasure
and develops an appreciation of
literature.
- Promote
information literacy, in collaboration
with classroom teachers, across
the curriculum, so ensuring that
Xavier students are empowered to
be lifelong independent learners
and confident users of information.

The
Resource Centres provide a welcoming, user-centred
environment which is staffed by professional,
qualified, efficient, skilled, enthusiastic, flexible
and willing staff.
The
three campus Xavier College Resource Centres staff
will strive to ensure that the values of Jesuit
education, the strong religious ethos of the College
and our mission within the school are reflected
in the positive relationship between the library
staff, teachers, general staff, students, parents
and the wider community.
The
Resource Centre collections are designed to challenge
and extend our students intellectually and to
enable them to identify themselves as responsible
citizens of a global community.
