XAVIER ARCHIVES

Xavier Archives is an individual reference and research facility to serve the needs of people connected with the school, or those with a wider interest in history, art, and education as such. The archives collects and maintains the available records of Xavier College of every type. Excellent study facilities exist in the archives for anyone who wishes to consult its records. Access to the collection is by means of appointment with the archivist, Douglas Kennedy, on 9854 5411.

Location

Xavier Archives is housed in the oldest constructed fabric on the school property. In the early history of the School, long before the days of refrigeration, the suite of rooms now occupied by Archives was used to store food, produce and wine. There was an internal stairway directly into the school kitchens above. Though inherently cold and dry, the area is now air-conditioned and climate-controlled.

Entry to the archives is in the basement at the eastern end of the South Wing. It is directly adjacent to the carpark and the main driveway, and is fully signposted. Visitors are most welcome.
