These scholarships are available to students entering
Years 7, 9 and 11 in 2010.
Students currently attending Xavier College are eligible to apply.
Applicants will sit for a competitive examination, although an audition will
be the major criterion for selection.
To be eligible, the successful applicants should have demonstrated
excellence in Music in their main instrument.
Documented evidence of achievements must accompany the application.
As a guideline, applicants for Year 7 should have completed a minimum
standard of A.M.E.B. 5th Grade or equivalent; for Year 9, 6th Grade or
equivalent; and for Year 11, 8th Grade or equivalent.
The successful applicants must be active, ongoing participants in the wider
co-curricular music programme in each year as students at Xavier College.
The scholarships will cover a significant percentage of the academic tuition
fee plus the cost of the main instrumental tuition fee.
The instrumental music fee allows for 30 x 45 minute lessons per year.
If external instrumental teachers are preferred, the College may subsidise
their fees according to the rate set by the Xavier College Music School.
Students applying for a music scholarship must sit for the examination
on:

Applicants must also complete a music audition during :
Monday 9 February or Tuesday 10 February 2009
We will contact you by Friday 8 February 2008 to arrange a suitable
audition time for your son.
Registration Process
1. Completion of A.C.E.R. Registration and payment of $105.00 via
Internet (see below);
2. Completion of Xavier College Scholarship Application form (see
below);
3. Completion Music Scholarship Application form (see below);
Music Auditions will be held on
Monday 9 February or Tuesday 10 February 2009
Students are expected to present:

2 contrasting pieces

A sample of technical work at their level

Sight reading & Aural work
-
If the student is presenting 2 instruments at audition only one
musical piece is to be presented per instrument
